Airous had walked from the train station to the bus stop. From the bus stop he went to his house. He didn't bring everything home, just a small backpack of homework and a spare set of clothes. He walked up to the small ranch house that for so long he called home. What shocked him was that his fathers car was missing.
Slowly Airous stepped onto the front porch and tried to open the front door, with his house keys. But he realized the locks had been changed. He sighed and knew that they would be. His father didn't want him there so he changed the locks to keep him away. Airous turned around and walked slowly up the street.
The snow started to fall heavily by the time Airous reached down town, where the bars where buzzing and people where cheery. It was getting late now and the thugs started to come out to try to get money that night from busy tourist. A lot of those thugs had been there for Airous when he lost his mother and what sanity was left with his father. He grew up on the streets after he went to school. He knew they wouldn't hurt him but he still avoided them by turning down a dark alley way and sitting on the cold cement ground.
"What do i do now?" he asked himself. He had no where to go, and a week off from school. It was getting colder as the snow fall around him and there wasn't anywhere that he could hide from it. He wondered what a real Thanksgiving looked like.A Thanksgiving where family's were sitting around a big table. A Thanksgiving with lots of food and no drunk abusive fathers. He knew that he should have stayed at Hogwarts for the break.

"Stupid, bloody imbeciles." Jay muttered under her breath, brushing off the dirt from her clothes as she stepped out of an alley. A grin was on her lips as she looked back into the alley, where 3 unconscious forms lay. 'Good thing Danny taught me...' She thought, thinking of her older brother who taught her how to fight. A small laugh bubbled up from her lips as she brushed her hair behind her shoulder, and put up the hood of her coat as she scurried away from the alley.
She let out a sigh as she looked around, and then pursed her lips. She didn't know where her family was right now, but she honestly didn't care. They wouldn't approve of what she had done anyway, not that they approved of anything really involving her. Jayla didn't care, she just wanted to have some fun while she had free time. But right now, she didn't know what to do...until she walked pass another alley.
There was someone there, someone who was familiar from school...
"Hey." She said, stopping as she looked down the alley. Then, looking around at all of the people, she ducked into the alley stood before him before crouching in front of him. "Why're you here in the alley?" She asked, giving a warm smile while her eyebrows furrowed. She didn't know how anyone could be sitting in an alley when there were so many opportunities of things to do. Jay raised an eyebrow now at him, and proceeded to slide herself next to him and sit. Then she turned to him, and raised her eyebrows in expectation.

Airous was starting to shiver as the snow came down harder. He wondered what bar his father might be in at this time of night. Maybe he would go find him, demand he took him home (walking of course. There was no way Airous was going to get in a car with his drunk father) and lock his dad inside the house so he wouldn't drive while intoxicated. "Ya right. Where did that lead you to last time you did that?" he muttered to himself as his hand automatically went up to touch the sore scar on his shoulder.
He had lost his train of thought, which wasn't a bad thing. When he heard someone call out to him. He looked up and blinked. Airous had seen her before from school. For what he knew she was nice. She had walked down the ally and sat next to him. He tried to give her a convincing everything-is-fine smile but was sure he failed to some degree. Airous had to come up with a little white lie to her question...he couldn't tell her the truth.
"I...I got lost." He responded...which was half the truth.

Jayla raised an eyebrow, and then frowned. Since she was a master at lying, she easily detected his own lie. "It's not really easy to get lost in this part of town." She said, giving a small smile. Then she sighed, and looked around before looking back at him. "You look cold." She said, frowning at him. Then, she automatically scooted up against him as close as possible. Jay wasn't exactly an awkward person, especially when it was this kind of situation. Without permission, not that she really cared, she wrapped her arms around him in what was half a hug, half just to help warm him up.
A sigh came from her, and she looked at him. "And I honestly don't believe you got lost, but if you don't want to you don't have to tell me the real reason you're in this alley." She said quietly, then gave a smile.

Airous watched her for for a moment. She had this mysteriousness to her that he couldn't figure out. It was after all Thanksgiving night. So, why wasn't she with her family? I bet she has a perfect family. He thought to himself.
When she came closer and wrapped herself half way around him he automatically put an arm around her. She was warm and smiled sweet. He had never had a girl come close to him like this. Not that he wasn't a likable, good-looking guy (or so he thought) but, Airous was just shy and didn't hang out with a lot of people.
He chuckled. "How about I ask you a question. Why are you here in the alley?" Airous smiled down at her a noticed how her eyes seemed to light up.

She sighed softly, and huddled closer to him. Jay herself was warm, she was mostly worried for his sake. He was the one who had seemed cold. When she heard him chuckle, she looked up at him and raised an eyebrow before she heard his question. A sheepish smile came to her lips and she studied his expression for a moment before grinning slyly.
"Well, there was the fact that I had some things I didn't want to be caught for and also that I saw you here and you looked like you needed some company." She said, smiling at him. Then she shrugged a bit as she thought of another reason. "And I wanted to avoid my brothers..." She said, shuddering for a moment. It wasn't because of the cold, but because of the many possible pranks her brothers had in store for her, she was sure.
"And because of the...possibility that the predicament before I came over here could happen again...but it was mostly because of you that I showed up here." She said, shrugging a bit as she stuck her tongue out playfully at him before grinning widely.

Airous' eyebrows went up in suprise. "Ah so your a little prankster?" he asked tickling her playfully. He wondered what her brothers where like and smiled. "My brother always went way to far with things..." He frowned suddenly realizing what he had said. He didn't want to bring up his brother.
But he thought of how last year on Thanksgiving his brother had pulled a prank on his father, and they spent the day in the waiting room at the nearest hospital because his dad had freaked out and fell off a chair, hitting his head pretty hard.
Airous shock the memory away and smiled back at her. "So what did you do exactly?" he asked with a hint of sarcasm. "Are the coppers after you know?" he joked and held her close to him. He felt warmer but that was something he wasn't ready to tell her. He liked how close she was to him.

Jay giggled a bit when he tickled her. "Ya, kinda. And I also adventure a lot, and get in trouble for that..." She said, rolling her eyes. Then she grimaced. "My brothers, Danny and Sam, they...are masters at pranking. For Muggles, that is. But still...they are unpredictable." She said, shaking her head as she thought of their last prank. They had actually glued some of her furniture to the ceiling in her room, and even at this very moment there was still a chair stuck. They hadn't been able to get it off...
A nervous laugh came from her and she gave a sheepish grin. "Possibly. But some guys were messing with me and since my brother taught me how to defend myself I kinda used that...so, its a possibility that the cops could be after me. But I doubt it. And it was self defense...so..." Jay said thoughtfully, and laughed a bit. "Anyways...ya..." She said, taking one of her arms away from him for a moment so she could brush her hair out of her face. Then, she immediately placed the arm around him again and sighed. "So, any ideas? Or do you just want to sit here?" She asked, leaning her head on his shoulder.

Airous shocks his head. "Thugs are stupid. They think they're though but they're just wimps." He smiled down at her "And if the cops come I'll beat them up for you." He said joking.
He watched her pull some of her hair back and moved back into his arms. He realized again how warm she was to the brilliant snow that was falling down like a Winter Wonderland. Airous always liked the snow and cold but something about her warmth made he relax more. He was never good at making friends and yet here he was, holding her and having a real regular conversion with her! Who would have known.
He shrugged at her question. "I've been here for a while and really didn't think of what to do..." He thought for a moment and then shock his head. "Nope got nothing. What would you like to do?: He asked.

She returned his smile with a small smirk. "Exactly. I mean, I'm only fourteen and I beat them until they were knocked out. But thats why I'm kinda worried about the cops...I mean, how often do you see some tough looking guys - 3 of them - in an alleyway, all passed out cold? I don't know about you, but I don't think thats very often." Jayla said, shaking her head. Then she rolled her eyes. "Nah, I'm pretty sure I could take them." She said lightly, grinning at him and then she settled herself.
Her thoughts wandered as she thought of something to do. Pranking? Not a good idea right now...Bothering people? Probably not a good idea either...but what about the large sum of money she had in her pocket currently? Her Muggle family was pretty wealthy, so she'd probably be able to use up the money and not have a worry about it at all...
"I've got money. If you want we could go eat something or do something else altogether." She suggest, raising an eyebrow at him.

Airous shock his head."Nah the cops would probable mistake them as hobos than thugs who tried to hurt kids.I'm sure your safe." He ensured her. "Plus I'll keep you safe."
He sighed softly. "It wouldn't be right to spend all your money. If we get something to eat your gonna have to let me pay for most of it." He smiled "I'm not letting a pretty girl like you use up all your cash." He winked at her.

"Eh...true." She said, agreeing about how the cops would mistaken the thugs for hobos. It was a possibility, and it was kind of amusing to think about it. "I don't need you keeping me safe." She said, rolling her eyes. Then she pouted, and looked at him. "But I have more than enough money with me-" Jay started, intending to argue if he denied her the chance to pay once more. But at his next words, she felt her cheeks heat up.
Ignoring the warmth in her cheeks, she looked down. "I can pay for it." She mumbled, and then looked back up with him with a half smile. "Besides, I suggested it! It would be my treat. Please?" She said, pleading as she looked at him with puppy dog eyes. This was one of the times her brown eyes came in handy, and she was hoping he would give in. Usually everyone else did but she couldn't be sure about him.

Airous chuckled. "I know you don't need me to keep you safe. But I want to keep you safe." He smiled lightly. He watched her blush and his smiled got bigger. "Your cute when you blush."
Her expression changed quickly and he didn't like how she was using puppy dog eyes to win him over. "But...I..." he tried to come up with something to convince her to let him pay. "Fine you can pay. But next time I'm paying. Got it?" he asked and smiled at her. "Your really good at that puppy eye thing. You'll have to teach me sometime."
Airous couldn't believe he had given in to her so quickly. But he knew of a way to keep her from paying for everything. He smiled to himself.

She felt her blush darken once more when she heard his comment about when she blushed. That was a first, and she felt a bit apprehensive about him telling her that but oh well. But it made her feel embarassed whenever she blushed in front of someone, so it was a rare thing.
A triumphant grin came to her lips and she cheered silently. "I can't make any guarantees that I'll let you pay next time." She teased, smirking slightly before she laughed. Then she shrugged, and winked playfully. "I might be able to teach you. Who knows." She said, smiling at him. Then she sighed and looked up at the sky where snow was falling from heavily. Her smile softened and she looked at him. "Don't you just love snow? It's so beautiful when its falling like this...except when its really cold. But, still." She said, shrugging one shoulder as she looked back up at the dark clouds.
Still looking at the sky, she unconsciously rested her head on his shoulder once more. It was just a somewhat natural thing, and she glanced at him for a moment before looking back at the sky with a smile growing on her lips.

Airous smiled bigger seeing that she had blushed even more to his comment.
"We'll see about that. I have a few plans up my sleeve to stop you from paying next time." He smirked. He really felt bad letting her pay for everything. He was sure he would make it up to her some how. He didn't want her to think he was being rude by not paying or that he was too poor to pay. Which now that he thought about it he wasn't to poor for a descent meal but he couldn't afford to use all his cash that he had in one night, since it looked like he wasn't returning home all break.
Airous followed her gaze to the sky. "I love the snow. Even when it's cold. It's like soft puffs of clouds are falling down. And when there's a lot of it, it looks like someone threw a giant white sheet over everything!" He chuckled seeing how he was babbling.
When she laid her head on his shoulder he tightened his arm around her, bringing her slightly closer to him. He smiled and hoped she wasn't uncomfortable with the small gesture.

Jayla smirked widely at him, and there was a mischievous glint in her eye. "Don't forget, I'm a prankster. I've learned a lot of loopholes." She said, rolling her eyes at him. It was true, and even her Muggle brothers had helped her with that kind of thing. She knew how to talk the talk and walk the walk, and could trick someone pretty easily. It was something a prankster needed to know, or at least a troublemaker, if they wanted to survive while seeming to play inside the rules.
She was pretty good at that.
A grin came to Jay's lips and she shrugged a bit. "Ya...it's weird like that." She murmured, not completely sure if he could hear her. Though her words were more so to herself than anything, but oh well. She didn't care if he heard.
Jayla, though she was deep in thought and awe at the snow, didn't miss when he tightened his arm around her. So, she decided to joke around with the fact a bit. "Gah, you're going to end up squeezing the life outta me if you keep tightening your grip on me!" She teased, sticking her tongue out at him.

Airous smiled. "We'll see about that. I don't believe your going to prank me out of it." He smirked and added "Plus my older brother taught me almost everything I know." Which wasn't that much now that he thought about it.
He had heard her small murmurer but decide not to say much about it. He laughed at her comment to him squeezing her. "I didn't mean to." He let his grip on her loosen. "I just want to make sure your warm." He winked at her.

She grinned and put her lips at his ear. "You'd be surprised." She murmured, and then leaned away from him and let her head rest on his shoulder once more. "As did my older brothers." She said, turning her head a bit to look at him with an innocent smile. "Just to let ya know." She added onto her previous words, and laughed lightly.
Jay raised an eyebrow. "I'm plenty warm. I came over here and warmed you up, didn't I?" She said, grinning before she leaned into him more since he didn't have a tight grip on her anymore.

Airous shock his head. "But my brother...he wasn't a good guy. I'm sure your brothers are good people." he smirked remembering how his brother had gotten into a gang that now Airous had to uphold. He sighed hoping that he wasn't a target now that he had disappeared to Hogwarts.
He smiled down at her. "Maybe I was pretending to be cold." He winked at her, noticing how she seemed to get closer to him without his help. He laced his fingers in with her right hand, hoping she wouldn't pull away.

She sighed, and looked at him. "I have one good brother...one not so good. Sam is the good, innocent one while Danny..." She shook her head as she frowned. Jay didn't ever say her brothers were bad people to her...or at least Danny. "How else do you think one of my brothers, Danny actually, taught me how to fight? He would have had to learn it himself and I'm still kinda mad at him for how he learned..." She said, her jaw clenching for a moment before she made it relax. "You never want to meet them...ever." She said, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly. That was a mistake she was never going to make again.
Jayla raised an eyebrow and hit his arm lightly. "Whatever, either way." She said, rolling her eyes now. Her eyes looked down to their now laced fingers and she shook her head, laughing lightly. Then she started to play with his fingers, and thought for a long moment. "But are we going to stay here or are we going to actually go and get something to eat, which I will[/b] pay for, by the way." She said, looking at him with an eyebrow raised.
