Jayla huffed, pursing her lips as she walked into the owlery. Currently, she was going to mail a letter to her Muggle family. They were still freaked out by the way she sent things to them, but honestly the way they reacted made her laugh. Especially her brothers' reactions, those were priceless to her. But still, regardless, she had to tell her family how she's doing. Unless she was going to leave Hogwarts just to tell them then leave, but that wouldn't be worth it.
A sigh came from her lips, and she looked around at the birds and ducked when one flew over her head. She was looking for a certain owl...and that was when she saw her owl, Xavier. He was a stone gray owl with dark eyes, and he was pretty defensive. That just made her love him even more.
"Hey, Ave." She said softly, approaching the familiar owl. It flapped it's wings, a warning toward her. Jay smiled, and then continued walking slowly toward him. "It's me, you can relax." She continued softly. The owl, staring at her for a moment then lowered his wings and she rolled her eyes as she continued to him and stood in front of him. "Hey, how ya doing?" She murmured softly, and when raised her hand lightly to the bird head and stroked his feathers before he turned his head and nipped lightly at her fingers, and she giggled. "Silly. You up for a delivery?" Jayla said quietly, staring into the dark eyes of her owl.
This was one of her rare, softy moments and it was a surprising sight. She didn't care, as long as someone didn't walk in to see it. Or even hear it for that matter. But, oh well. She had to send her letter.

Roxie walked into the owlery holding her letter she wrote to her parents. She had to let her mom and dad know that she made the Quidditch team. A beater like her dad. They would be so proud of her. She had to smile. For once she had done something they could be proud of. She had managed to stay out of trouble but she wasn't sure how long that was going to last.
She climbed up the steps. one problem, she had a cat not an owl. That was why she hoped she could find any of her friends or relatives so their owls could deliver it for her. She saw a girl with orange hair and had to smile. It was Jay. Jay was a close friend of Roxie's. She was also a 4th year Gryffindor. they met each other their 1st year and have been pretty close friends. Maybe she would let her borrow her owl.
She walked next to her. "Hey Jay!" she said and hugged her friend. "How's it going?" she asked deciding to have a little bit of a conversation before getting to what she needed from her friend.

Jay jumped when she heard a voice, and her owl bit her finger hard. "Ow!" She yelped, shaking her hand lightly. "Hey Rox." She said, managing a one armed hug back. Xavier had his wings spread out completely, and a low noise was coming from him. It was his sort of warning growl, as she had learned about him, and she grabbed Roxie's arm and pulled her back. "Good...kinda. You just startled Ave a bit, but otherwise it's going fine." She said, putting her finger in her mouth for a moment to soothe the throbbing pain. Her owl took off, flying to one of the high rafters and she looked after him with apologetic eyes.
"Come on, Avey. She didn't mean to freak you out!" Jay pleaded, frowning up at her owl, who just had a sort of scowl on his face. "Sorry about him, he's being grouchy lately." She apologized quietly to her friend before looking up at her owl with a hard look in her eye. "Xavier, down here now!" She snapped, and her owl didn't hesitate as he flew down and landed on her shoulder.
Jayla stroked his feathers, and he nibbled at her hair a bit affectionately. She lifted her arm and he shifted to standing on her elbow. "See what you did to me?" She spoke to the bird, holding up her hurt finger that was still bleeding. He cooed softly at the sight, and nuzzled his head up to her neck. She continued petting him, using the palm of her injured hand.
"So, what're you doing here? By the way, I suggest not touching him right now." She said, giving a sheepish smile as she once again put her finger in her mouth. This time it was just to get rid of the blood, but oh well. Her finger was sort of numb now, mostly from the chilly weather outside. She managed a smile at her friend, and then looked at her bird again with gentle eyes and smiled gently as she let him nip at her uninjured fingers.

Roxie noticed how her owl bit her finger. "I am sorry. Did I scare him?" she asked looking at the frightened owl. This was why she had a cat instead. They probably didn't scare as easily and was easier to catch. But they didn't help much with the mail situation. Ave widened it's wings and she said startled him a little bit. "That's a little bit?" she asked skeptical.
Roxie giggled a little. She loved when people talked to their pets. It was so cute and sort of funny. Then again she shouldn't be the one who thinks it funny. There was a countless amount of times she talked to her cat, Yero. Her cat probably knew more secrets than any of her human friends. And that was kind of sad.
She asked what she was doing here. "Well I wrote a letter to my parents. You know to update them on everything." she started off. "But then I forgot, I don't have an owl. I have a cat. Those don't help much with delivering letters." she said with a small giggle at the thought of a cat doing mail service.
"So I decided to come to the owlery and see if I had any friends here so I could also use their owls." she said "Or maybe a family member." Roxie added in considering her huge amount of family in the school. She wasn't sure if it would be smart to ask Jay considering her owls conditions right now. And how they probably didn't like Roxie that much either.

Jay shrugged. "Ya, it is a little bit sadly. He...overreacts a lot. Ave is a dramatic bird." She said lightly, and her owl grumbled. She laughed, and continued petting him. "That's why I came here, except I need to send the letter to my mom and my brothers. They're Muggles, but I can't just leave Hogwarts to tell them, now can I? Besides, their reaction is totally worth it." She said, smirking a bit before it softened into a smile and she raised an eyebrow.
"I'm pretty sure Ave could make 2 trips, we don't live too far away from each other. Though you might want to mention to your parents that they should try to touch him too much, unless they give him a treat and then of course he'll let them pet him and stuff..." Jay mused, and then grinned at Roxie.
