Cedric was coming back to school from a long unpleasant time out. He had been pulled from school due to some of the family becoming very ill then dieing. He was more reserved then ever, and he was going to try and keep a good distance from people. He was not in any way shape or form interested in being with any one. Whether it be a Friend, teacher of his ex girlfriend Idril. He didn't even look the same either. His eyes had a emptiness to them, his face was emotionless and his never smiled or would pay attention to any one.

Sonja was nervous, to say the least, for her upcoming encounter with the Hogwarts staff she was so familiar with. She held her hands in the pockets of her coat and slowly approached the gates. The castle was outlined in a sad array of clouds that made the air bitter. She watched her breath on the air as she marched through fallen leaves. Sonja's heart felt as cold as ice, with the nervous fear of being unsucessful.
Upon making her way nearer to the entry, she saw a familiar figure slouched over along the exterior of the grounds. Sonja made her way over and called to Cedric in a friendly manner, "Hello there. Enjoying the cold are we?" Her voice was forced through chattering teeth, she wrapped her arms around herself and stood.

Cedric heard a voice and turned. He looked at the young woman he knew was at Hogwarts and just now left. He looked at her and saw it was Sonja. He looked at her with empty eyes. "Hi, Yes I am. It's not too bad for some one who is like me. So what are you doing here any ways?" He asked. Cedric was in no was how she would remember him. He was not so cold and emotionless before. But sens both his grandmothers and his grandfathers, as well his grate-grandmothers and grandfather were killed last year he became very cold. He felt he couldn't trust any one now.

Sonja felt a sense of coldness come off of Cedric, but she smiled anyways, "Well I'm here on an order from the ministry. I'm training to be an auror." She fumbled and glanced around a bit before asking Cedric the obvious question. "Is Everything alright Cedric? Where's your sister?" Sonja didn't know how much had gone on at Hogwarts since she left, but it didn't seem too happy a place at the moment. She glanced at Cedric's eyes and saw that they were empty and glassy, like that of an invalid.

Cedric shock his head. "No nothing is all right. And Siren will be coming back next week. She has to help our dad come up with a new spell to add to a broom she is working on." He said. He wasn't sheer if he could trust Sonja, but he was going to keep his guard up till he feels no need to. Cedric then took a deep breath. He missed how the air was here. It was cold, but for him and Siren it was always prefect. He was not too fond of the fall, spring and summer. He had just found out he had tree pollen allergies. It was driving him crazy tiering not to sneeze.

Sonja was shocked at Cedric's blunt reply, so she gazed downward awkwardly. With a quiet clear of the throat she stumbled to think of a response, "Well I'm sorry, about that." She didn't sound sure, but the situation was curious. Cedric must have been in a really down mood to express himself with such a short temper. Sonja didn't know what else to say, so she brought up a topic she thought they could both appreciate. "So what kinda broom is your sister making?" She smiled and looked up at Cedric, hopeful that she could lift his mood a bit. Quidditch seemed to be one of the few things they had in common.

"Well it will have some fetchers on it that most brooms have and don't have the braking charm will be put on it to well keep it from braking, It will have a shield charm on it for safety, a jinx/hex repel charm, and it will be made from American red wood with ash in the tail. It will come in many designs and colors and the speed and name is still being debated." Cedric told Sonja. He did feel bad how he was acting to her. She was always a real friend to him. "Sorry about how I am acting. I mean no offense by it. Just very deepest is all." He said looking down in shame.

Sonja kept smiling, she was understanding and sympathetic toward Cedric, even if she didn't have any idea what had made him feel so down. She brushed his words off her shoulder, " Don't even worry about it Ced, everybody has bad days." That got her thinking. Sonja hoped that it wasn't something terrible that had happened to Cedric or his family, but then, she would have heard about it, wouldn't she? His family was always in the limelight.
"Well I'm gonna head toward the school." She motioned toward the great hall. "If you like we could stroll up there together?"

"Ya I will join you. And my family made shere the press didn't say or write any thing." He said. He was starting to feel a bit better but not by much. He was glade to have someone to talk to. It made him feel a bit better and he was happy to be back. He was glade this was his last year. But was sad about it too. But o well thats life.

Sonja smiled and headed toward the castle, she was glad Cedric agreed to walk with her; she would have worried about him otherwise all alone out in the cold. "So is your sister excited to be coming back?" Every subject Sonja brought up seemed to have to do with Siren one way or another, she noticed, but she understood girls more than she ever would any boy. Boys were complicated, girls were almost always predictable. Siren was, after all, the one she had spoken to most. Cedric had always been quiet, "I haven't seen her in a while. How is she?"

Cedric laughed. "She is good misses her fiends. You are one she talks about. She always said you knew how to talk to people. I see what she meant. She can't wait to come back but she may be busies a lot trying to get the broom ready." He said. "She said it mite be faster then the firebolt. I had to test it all ready so they know if it's not made right and what not." He said. Ced then started to rub his neck. "My neck hurts a lot, I was told it is what the muggles call whip lash. I also have a miner concussion too from what I was told." He said. "I do like how I got muggle health book every uses full too. Leard how to splint a broken leg or arm." He said smiling.

Sonja laughed when Cedric told her about having whiplash, not to offend him, but because it was such a pitiful situation. Having to test his sister's broom and getting injured from it, not something you would want to tell the guys. "Well that skill could come in handy, you never know." Sonja winked and chuckled to herself. Cedric already seemed a bit happier then when she had first approached him standing alone and she felt reassured that she had helped at least the slightest bit.

Ced laughed too. "I am starting to think it mite go up to two hundred and ninety five miles we used one of the things the policemen I think is what they are called you to see if any one brakes the speed limit. Don't ask how I know, it's just sad, funny in a way but sad." He said trying hard not to laugh at him self. He was fighting to keep a straight face. He could a lot of the time but not now.

Sonja was surprised at how much Cedric's behavior had changed in just a few minutes, but it appeared all he needed was a bit of cheering up. "Yeah," she nodded. "I don't particulary remember learning about muggle police officers at Hogwarts, but If my memory serves me right, your thinking of a speedometer?" Growing up in Russia, Sonja happened to know more about muggle contraptions than almost any other witch or wizard. Her father had even been friends with a couple police officers. "You'll have to send me an owl when your sister gets finished, I'd love to see the new broom." It had been ages, Sonja realized, since she last went flying, and suddenly she missed it.

"Yep that the thing, and be tween we, I got pulled over right before I came back and funny enough by a squob too and to make it worse he was my mom's fifth cousin too. O the same, it was funny." He said laughing. "I will let you know in person when she is done with the broom. But knowing how she is." He said rolling his eyes. "It will be five or ten years before she is done." He said. He then started to pop ever bone in his body that can be pooped.

Sonja laughed at Cedric's remark, clearly he was feeling better. He cracked his fingers and she grimaced, "Oh Ced, that's horrible." She couldn't help but laugh. "Your gonna get arthritis cracking your bones like that!" The sound gave her shivers and she playfully nudged him in the shoulder, stepping away so she wouldn't have to see him do it any longer. "Weve still got a bit to go," She looked up at the distance from the castle to where they were, "I will NOT stand to listen to cracking bones the rest of the way." She smirked and crossed her arms over her chest, suddenly feeling a bit playful.

Ced was now looking at Sonja. Then a evil smile corset his face he pooped his neck. "Don't worry that only happens if you do it all the time. I only do it when I am very stiff. But the fingers you have to really worry about braking or frashering them. I do that some times." He said laughing. "I got a bit of a spinal defect so I have to."

Sonja gaped open mouthed at Cedric, "Have you really broken your fingers just cracking them?" Her voice suddenly became rather somber, and she stopped laughing. "And you don't ACTUALLY have a spinal defect do you?" It wasn't that Sonja didn't believe Cedric, it was just that he hardly seemed like the type to be in such an awful state. "That's got to be terrible, I'm sorry." She couldn't help apologizing, feeling as if it were her fault for bringing up the subject. Sonja lowered her head and felt like a fool for just a moment... maybe she shouldn't have laughed.

Ced laughed. "Ya I really do when you follow my spin and get to my neck it starts to cerve. Rather uncomfortable to tell the truth. Found out when I was twelve. was not fun." He said. "But o well to big deal. Had to give up quiddich because of it." He said. He was not use to telling some one about that. It was a touchy subject.

Sonja fell into a bit of a silent respect for Cedric's situation; she knew it must have been difficult giving up something he loved so much. There was no way she could compare to what he felt, so she mustered up a cheerful smile. "Well you really don't show it at all, I mean, the injury." She grinned and spun toward him. "If you hadn't of told me," She looked him up and down and decided there was no obvious sign of a disfiguration, "Well then I really never would have known." Once again Sonja threw Cedric her playful grin, unsure of what made her feel so happy to be talking with him. She found cheering him up to be rather easy though, so she didn't mind the walk to the castle lasting as long as it was.
